This holiday season, please help the Bill Foundation by sending your friends and family a gift that reflects something that is important to you and your family.

Sending the Bill Foundation “A Home for the Holidays” gift card tells the recipient that a generous donation has been made in their honor. It’s the perfect way to remember the family, friends, colleagues and clients on your holiday gift list.

For a suggested donation of $25 we will send you one beautiful card to send to your gift recipient indicating that a generous donation has been made in that person’s honor. For a suggested donation of $150 we will send you 15 cards, and for $250 we will send 30.

What a blessing to make a gift choice that makes an immediate difference in the lives of the animals we all so much want to help. A donation to Bill Foundation is the perfect way to simplify your life during the upcoming hectic holiday season. Best of all, you will be giving a gift that reflects your ideals, and that gives the gift of life to abandoned animals who desperately need help.

Spread the word! Encourage your friends and family to give “A Home for the Holidays” gift cards this year. It’s an easy and inexpensive way to make a charitable donation that will remind others of your commitment to making the world a better place.

The Scottish Coat, available from DogClothes4U, was designed for warmth. Artificial wool and washable lining make this coat convenient as well as classy.

The hood can be worn up or laid back. The designer used decorative wooden buttons to highlight the Red and Black plaid. Underneath the hood is a hole for a leash.

DogClothes4U was founded by two dog-loving friends who were disappointed with the quality and selection of dog clothes and accessories found in many retail/specialty stores and online. After much consideration, they decided to go into business together to combine their passion for high-quality clothes and products that they would be proud to use with their own pets.

Wish a friend or family member a Happy New Year with a free e-card from the SPCA International.

The first Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was organized in England in 1824, primarily to prevent the abuse of carriage horses in the days before automobiles. Horses were driven through freezing cold winters and stiflingly hot summers, often with little food, water or rest. The carriage drivers were interested only in making as much money as possible, and would beat the horses if they refused to or were unable to pull the carriages.

The SPCA helped to pass laws that regulated the carriage-horse business.  With this success, the Society expanded to include dogs and other animals in its fight against cruelty. The first American SPCA was started in 1866 in New York City. There are now SPCAs all over the U.S., and indeed, all over the world.

SPCA International (New York, NY 10001) was founded in the U.S. in 2006. Its mission is simple but vast: to advance the safety and well-being of animals.

This year’s theme for our custom color notecards is “happy tails.” It was a tough decision to choose only eight images and stories from the hundreds that we received from our adopters. We are happy to announce that Rambo, Rascal, Clyde, Bud, Buddy, Boris, and Charlie are leading the way and proving that “love IS adoptable at 34 Elbow Street!”

Notecards are available for purchase for $15/pack or $2.95/card at the shelter as well as at Dogs in Harmony and Woof Woof Pet Boutique.

From the Dumb Friends League (Denver, Colorado 80231)

Our four-legged friends need your help this holiday season. The Dumb Friends League is holding its annual Paws to Give fund drive in November and December to help care for more than 24,000 homeless pets this coming year.

“We need your help now more than ever,” said Bob Rohde, Dumb Friends League president and CEO. “Any amount you can give—whether it’s $10, $25, $50 or more—is much appreciated and can make a big difference for the pets and people in our community.”

Financial contributions can be made online on the Dumb Friends League web site or by mailing a check to Dumb Friends League Paws to Give, 2080 S. Quebec St., Denver, CO 80231.

In addition to making a financial donation, you can also help homeless pets by doing your holiday shopping at the Dumb Friends League:

  • Sit… Stay… Shop. Visit the Sit… Stay… Shop at both shelters for gourmet pet treats, food and supplies such as pet beds, toys, collars and leashes.
  • 2012 pet calendars. Purchase a full-color 2012 Dumb Friends League pet-photo calendar for $15. Print an order form from the Dumb Friends League web site and mail it to the Dumb Friends League, 2080 S. Quebec St., Denver, CO 80231, or fax it to (303) 696-0063. These calendars are also available for purchase at the shelters’ Sit… Stay… Shops.
  • Holiday cards. Mail holiday cards to the pet lovers in your life (10 cards and envelopes for $15). Print an order form from the Dumb Friends League web site and mail it to the Dumb Friends League, 2080 S. Quebec St., Denver, CO 80231, or fax it to (303) 696-0063. These cards are also available for purchase at the shelters’ Sit… Stay… Shop.
  • Gift cards. Purchase a Dumb Friends League gift card for the pet lovers in your life. The gift card may be used toward an adoption fee or items at either Sit… Stay… Shop.
  • Online Shop. Visit the online shop on the Dumb Friends League web site where you will find a variety of shirts, hats, coffee mugs, tote bags and other items.

The funds raised will help the Dumb Friends League care for thousands of needy cats, dogs and other small pets. The private, nonprofit organization spends approximately $300 for each homeless pet, including shelter, food and medical care. Last year 19,535 pets were adopted to new homes or returned to their owners by Dumb Friends League. In addition to adopting homeless pets, the League offers other services, including lost and found, humane education, behavior training, animal cruelty investigations and donor-subsidized spay/neuter surgeries for pets in underserved areas.

For more information on the Dumb Friends League and how you can help, visit the Paws to Give web page or call (303) 751-5772.
